What We Collect
Location
How Your Location Is Used
Your coordinates are sent directly to the Transport for NSW Open Data API to retrieve nearby departure information. This is a one-way request — we do not log, retain, or share your location beyond what is required for that API call.
You can also manually select a location in-app. In that case, only the coordinates of your chosen location are used — your GPS position is not accessed.

Third-Party Services
Transport for NSW Open Data API — provides live departure data. See their privacy policy at transport.nsw.gov.au/privacy-policy.
TelemetryDeck — privacy-first analytics. We send anonymous, aggregate signals (e.g. which features are used) with no personal data, no location, and no device identifiers. See telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
We do not use advertising SDKs, crash reporters, or social media integrations.
Purchases
In-App Purchases
Sydney Transit offers an optional one-time purchase (Sydney Transit Pro) that unlocks the home screen widget. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple via the App Store — we do not handle or store any payment information. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Analytics
TelemetryDeck Analytics
What is sent: feature names, app version, device type, iOS version.
What is never sent: your location, any personal identifier, name, or IP address.
TelemetryDeck processes signals in aggregate only and is designed to be impossible to trace back to an individual user. Full details at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Storage
Data Storage
Sydney Transit has no backend servers. All departure data is fetched live from TfNSW and discarded when you close the app. Your manually selected location preference is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it.
Permissions
Location Permission
We request While Using the App permission only — no background location access. You can revoke this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Sydney Transit.
If permission is denied, you can still use the app by selecting a location manually from the in-app picker.
Children
Children's Privacy
Sydney Transit does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app has no accounts, registration, or data submission of any kind.
Updates
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
